GREENVILLE- Levi Barga and his goat Maggie, placed first in goat showmanship Saturday at the Darke County Fair.
Barga, a sophomore at Versailles, did more than enough to impress the judge to take top honors.
“Taking a little time with Maggie every day, paid big dividends for Barga.
“I spend about two hours a day with her,” said the 15-year-old Barga. “I take the time to walk her around the yard and set her up for the proper stance. She learned quickly and that made it easy.”
Barga started showing goats at the age of eight and has become a seasoned veteran.
“She’s pretty tough,” admitted Barga. “I have a lot of respect for her. She brings everything to the next level so I just do my best to answer the questions to the best of my ability.”
Now that Barga has won his division, he will come back Thursday to become showman of showman.
Barga is the son of Gwen and Michael Barga.
