Betty I. Heiser age 97, of Greenville passed away at 7:15 am Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
Betty was born December 12, 1925, in Darke County to the late Warren & Sarah (Thompson) Shaffer. Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard S. Heiser on March 10, 1999, whom she married October 31, 1946; son, Terry R. Heiser; brother, Herman Shaffer; and sisters, Ellen Beanblossom, Juanita Bailey, Orpha Cox, Annabel Arnett and Goldie McNutt.
Betty is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Penny & Bob Wilson of Greenville; granddaughters, Tammy & Steve Minard of Muncie, Indiana, and Tracy Miniard of Greenville; great grandchildren, Brock Minard, Erika Minard, Christopher Miniard, Aaron Miniard, and Nathan Miniard; great-great granddaughter, Alexa Robinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty graduated from Jackson School in 1943. She was a homemaker. Betty was a lifelong member of Coletown Congregational Christian Church where she was a former Deaconess and served on the Ladies Aid Group. Betty enjoyed reading and doing word search puzzles.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, April 3, 2023, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Eric Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be made to the Coletown Congregational Christian Church.
