Carl L. Shoop, age 90, of Greenville passed away on the morning of November 30 at the EverHeart Hospice Care Center in Wayne Health Care, Greenville, Ohio.
Carl was born on February 23, 1934, in Dayton to the late Isaiah L. and Sylvia (Reese) Shoop. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years Ruth Ann (Wagner) and his second wife of 5 years Alyce (Anderson) (Orth); fiancée Connie (Monks) Leis, daughter-in-law Lorri (Elsass) Shoop; siblings Loetta Leis, Glenn Shoop, Juanita Piper, and Evelyn Prescott.
Carl is survived by his sons Jeffrey of Greenville; Steven (Cindy) of Greenville; Eric (Lelah) of Arcanum; daughter Angela (Matt) Arnold of Greenville, grandchildren Dirk Shoop of Greenville; Kyle (Stephanie) Skidmore of Cincinnati and Derrik (Mallory) Skidmore of Beavercreek, great grandchildren Lexie and Lucas Shoop; Smith and Greer Skidmore, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Carl began his driving career at the age of 14. In addition, Carl farmed in his early years and served his country with great pride with the United States Army, 82 Airborne division where he earned his Parachute Wings, was a member of the Pistol Team, and earned the National Defense Service Medal. He concluded his full-time driving career when he retired after 29 years with Liquid Transport Corporation.
The three most important things in Carl’s life were his faith in God, the love for his family, and the freedoms that he served to protect in the Unites States of America. In addition, Carl attended the Ansonia First Church of God, Ansonia, Ohio.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and care giving staff at EverHeart Hospice of Greenville for their unwavering care.
Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family with burial at the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to EverHeart Hospice, 1350 North Broadway, Greenville, OH 45331.
