Carl von Gilpin

Carl “Von” Gilpin, 69 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday September 24, 2023 at 1:58 AM at EverHeart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. Von was born May 22, 1954 in Greenville, Ohio, the son of the late Floyd and Mary (Grooms) Gilpin.

Von worked for 45 years at Whirlpool and for 4 years at McKesson Pharmaceuticals. Von was a 1973 graduate of Greenville High School; he was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association and served as Chapter Director for 11 years; he rode his motorcycle in 38 different states. Von was an avid Beatles fan; he loved the family fishing trips to Bass Lake in Canada; and he especially loved his grandkids.

Von is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Lisa Gilpin.

Von is survived by his wife; Sandy (Kramer) Gilpin of Greenville whom he married October 9, 2010; his son and daughter in law, David and Ashley Gilpin of Arcanum; his bonus children and spouses, Mark and Callie Gower of Wellington, Florida, Raymond and Megan Gower of Union City, Ohio, Kenneth and Kelley Gower of Union City, Ohio, Kyle Gower of Union City, Ohio, and Allison and Kyle Hummel of Union City, Ohio; his grandchildren, Moxon, Haddie, Bryson, Ashtyn, Weston, Caroline, Tate, Hudson, Haisley, Haven, Huxley and 2 on the way; his brother and sister in law, Terry and Brenda Gilpin of Greenville; his sister and brother in law, Sherry and Dave Davidson of Greenville; his in laws and spouses, Larry and Linda Wellman of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jayne and Tom Harrod of New Weston, Lori and Jay Brunswick of Maria Stein, Tim and Angie Kramer of Greenville, and Krista Oldiges of Russells Point, Ohio; and his dog, Doge.

Services will be held on Saturday September 30, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Tony Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday September 29, 2023 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Darke County or EverHeart Hospice.
