Carol A. Alderson Cox, age 75, of Greenville, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Ayden Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 28, 1948 in Ottowa, IL to the late Denzel and Loretta Chapman.
In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” Cox; first husband, James Lee Alderson; step daughter, Carolyn Jackson; sister and brother in law, Joan and Marv Matson; brothers, Wayne D. Chapman and Raymond L. Chapman; brother in law, Marv Lambert; sisters in law, Linda L. (Cox) Rude and Janet E. (Cox) Baker; infant granddaughter, Melanie Cox; niece, Charlene Lambert; and nephew, David L. Rude.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy L. Alderson of Nevada; step son, Randy (Sandy) Cox of New Madison; step son, Doug (Angie) Cox of Greenville; step daughter, Barb (Gary) Baker of Greenville; sister, Erma Lambert of Port Orchard, WA; brother in law, Kenny Baker of New Madison; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a great great grandchild and another on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carol graduated high school in 1967 in Bloomington, IL, and in 1983 she graduated with an Associates Degree of Nursing. She was a member of EUM Church in Greenville. Carol was Mrs. Claus for 8 years along side her husband Bob who was Santa Claus for many years. She enjoyed gardening, listening to music, bible study, sewing, loved doing puzzles and playing bingo.
A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at EUM Church, 111 Devor St., Greenville, OH 45331 with Care Pastor Janie Detling officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 3:00 PM-4:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any food bank in Darke County, per Carol’s wishes.
