Carol J. Simmons age 73, of Webster passed away at 8:54 am Thursday, September 12, 2024, at her residence.
Carol was born February 15, 1951, in Greenville to the late Chalmer & Eleanor Rose (Monnin) Grillot. She is also preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Grillot Dickmann; brother, Dennis Grillot; brothers-in-law, Junior & Paul Simmons; and sister-in-law, Naomi Simmons.
Carol is survived by her husband, Larry Simmons whom she married August 7, 1971; children, Michelle & Sam Holsapple of Versailles and Larry E. Simmons of Bradford; grandchildren, Paige Nicole & Brendon Berning and Brigette Ann Holsapple; great grandson, Owen James Berning; siblings, Rose & Michael Lawrence of Versailles and Alvin & Donna Grillot of Rossburg; sister-in-law, Diane Grillot of Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carol worked at Stanley in Covington, retired from the U.S. Post office in Greenville and bartended at the Versailles Eagles. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, Versailles Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Versailles American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Covington Am Vets Ladies Auxiliary. Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and helping her sister-in-law, Donna at her flower shop.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Tien Le celebrant. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the funeral home. A rosary service will be held at 6:30 pm followed by a Lodge of Sorrow service conducted by the Versailles Eagles Ladies Auxiliary at 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
