Carolyn Kay Shockney age 83, of Greenville passed away at 9:15 PM on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
Carolyn was born December 8, 1937, in Greenville to the late David & Dortha (Hartzell) Smith. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Richard Shockney on August 14, 2017, whom she married June 7, 1958.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Lora J. Shockney of Greenville and Steven & Samantha (Culbertson) Shockney of Haslet, Texas; grandchildren, Aimee (Miles) Jaramillo-Lambert, Scott Seeley, Shannon Seeley, Brandon Shockney and Angelica (Tyler) Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Alice Lambert, Evan Lambert, Kashley Seeley, Jacelyn Seeley, Mayson Seeley, Rose Nelson and Eisley Nelson.
Carolyn worked at Lion Apparel in Dayton for 15 years as a pricing specialist and Mazer Corporation in Dayton for 5 years. She was a member of East Dayton Church of the Brethren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brethren Retirement Community Resident Aid Fund or EverHeart Hospice in Greenville.
