DAYTON, Ohio – Despite a blast of snow and artic air to begin the holiday weekend, the Dayton Community Blood Center Donation Center is operating on schedule and is open Friday until 4 p.m. The only mobile blood drive Friday at Southwest Church in Springboro is also on schedule for 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Dayton CBC Donation Center will be open Christmas Eve Saturday, Dec. 24 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The only mobile blood drive Saturday will be at the Bellbrook Fire Department from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
CBC will operate fully on Monday, Dec. 26. Donors can find blood drive information and schedule an appointment to donate at www.DonorTime.com call (937) 461-3220 or use the Donor Time App.
CBC is grateful to loyal donors who braved Friday’s frigid temperatures to donate. The temperature sign outside the Dayton CBC displayed double-digit below zero readings.
Holly Warrell came from Kettering to make a double type O positive donation. “I was on the schedule, and I try to come as often as I can,” said Holly.
Everyone who registers to donate Friday and Saturday at the Dayton CBC receives a Christmas stocking with surprise gift cards. All registered donors receive the Blood Donor Beanie and are entered in the drawing to win two tickets to “Les Miserable” Jan. 27 at the Schuster Center.
Everyone who registers to donate during “New Year’s Resolution Week” Dec. 26-31 at the Dayton CBC will receive a $10 Kroger gift card and the Blood Donor Beanie.

Blood donation requirements: Donors are required to provide a photo ID that includes their full name. Past CBC donors are also asked to bring their CBC donor ID card. Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years old with parental consent: form available at www.givingblood.org or at the Dayton CBC and mobile blood drive locations), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds (you may have to weigh more depending on your height), and be in good physical health.
