Charles “Charlie” F. Tomlin

Charles “Charlie” F. Tomlin, age 98, of West Milton, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Randall Residence of West Milton. He was born March 16, 1926 to John Leroy & Estella Marie (Millington) Tomlin in Brady Lake, Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Mary Marie Tomlin; daughter-in-law Kim Tomlin; siblings John (Rita) Tomlin, Virginia (James) Davis, Lena Ellen (George) Organ, Phyllis (Dick) Clark.

He will be missed and remembered by his loving wife Doris Jean (Turner) Tomlin of 71 years; children Charles Mark Tomlin of Indianapolis, IN, Timothy Scott (Robin) Tomlin of Arcanum, Sally Ann (Roger) Davidson of Troy; grandchildren Ryan (Brittnee), Grant (Kiersten), Sami (Jon), Trent (Brooklynn), Kurtis (Shelby), Kevin (Morgan), Layne, Michalla (Andy), Hayden, Drew, Parker; great grandchildren Charles, Izzy, Emmy, Barrett, Cam, Noah, Collins, Noley, Bentley, Lilliann; brother Paul (Patty) Tomlin of Marysville; best friend Mike Ayer; special friend John Brackman.

Charlie was a 1944 North Lewisburg High School graduate. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from The Ohio State University in 1950 and his Master’s Degree from Wittenberg University in 1959. He started his teaching career at Brown Local Schools now known as Miami East Schools in 1952 and worked his way up being the Miami East High School principal until 1963. In 1963, Charlie moved to West Milton and became the Milton-Union Elementary School principal until retiring in 1983. After retirement, he worked for Galbreath Realtors and Wagner Insurance in West Milton but his favorite position was being the starter/ranger at Homestead Golf Course. He was a member of the Fairhaven Church-Northmont, member of the Gideons International, past president of the Milton-Union Public Library Board, and volunteered his time assisting with the Milton-Union Track Program where he helped with the building of the track where it currently sits. Charlie started and held the Tomlin Open for 58 years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Friday, October 11 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Milton-Union Public Library or Milton-Union Education Foundation.
