Charles L. Broering age 74, of Versailles passed away at 10:05 pm Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Charles was born May 4, 1947, in Celina to the late Roman R. & Erma (Jutte) Broering. Charles was also preceded in death by his wife, Alice H. (Kremer) Broering on November 19, 2013, whom he married November 27, 1971; infant daughter, Evelyn Broering; brother, Gary Broering; sisters, Janice Tobe and Joyce Broering in infancy; and brother-in-law, Gerald Thomas.
Charles is survived by his children, Teresa Broering & Philip Durbin of Boston, Massachusetts, Linda Broering of Tipp City, Matthew Broering of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jerry Broering of Yorkshire and Roger Broering of Michigan City, Indiana; grandchildren, Samantha Broering & Gage Waldo, Tabitha Broering, Naomi Durbin and Erika Durbin; brother & sister-in-law, Ronnie & Pam Broering of North Star; sisters & brother-in-law, Deb & Ken Poeppelman of Ft. Loramie and Donna Thomas of West Virginia; sister-in-law, Elaine Broering of St. Henry; brother-in-law, Ron Tobe of Englewood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles retired from NK Parts in Sidney in 2011, with 17 years of service. He was also a carpenter and a dairy farmer for many years. Charles was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, a former member of the North Star Volunteer Fire Department, and a supporter of the Darke County 4-H. He enjoyed camping, fishing, carpentry, and classic cars. You could often spot him walking around town with his beloved dog Midnight.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, March 25, 2022, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Star Volunteer Fire Department.
