Notice is hereby given that the Civil Service Commission of the City of Greenville, Darke County, Ohio, will hold a written examination for the position of Wastewater Plant Operator for the Wastewater Treatment Plant for the City of Greenville, Ohio, on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 6:00 PM in the Greenville Municipal Building, 100 Public Square, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED as of March 9, 2023; and must be citizens of the United States of America or have legally declared their intentions of becoming United States citizens. A minimum score of 70% is required to pass the written exam. The salary ranges from $23.92 to $29.08 per hour, plus benefits, for no experience to Class I.
Any interested person can obtain an application online at cityofgreenville.org or from the Office of the Mayor in the City of Greenville Municipal Building located at 100 Public Square, Greenville, Ohio 45331, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday and from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Fridays. The application must be completed and returned to the Office of the Mayor no later than 4:00 PM on March 1, 2023, in order to be eligible to take the examination.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under direction, inspects treatment plant processes and pump stations to ensure equipment is in working order; maintains and installs equipment; maintains associated grounds; logs maintenance activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Secondary education or equivalent; experience which indicates basic knowledge of biology, chemistry, computer data basics, electrical repair, mechanical repair, and plumbing related to the operations of a wastewater treatment plant.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Ohio driver’s license; must possess an Ohio EPA Class I Wastewater Operators Certificate within (24) months of hire.
ADDITION OF CREDITS:
In order to be considered for a Uniformed Service credit of 20%, the applicant must be a resident of the State of Ohio and submit a copy of their certificate of service or honorable discharge from active duty. To be considered for a reserve component of the armed forces (including the Ohio National Guard) credit of 15%, must submit proof of completion of initial entry-level training with completed application. Applicant must pass the written exam before credits are added.
A government photo I.D. must be presented to the examining officer to gain admission to the exam.
