The Ohio Community College Athletic Association (OCCAC) has named Edison State Community College freshman Layne Claudy (Greenville HS), left, an OCCAC Softball Player of the Week and freshman Grace Shaffer (Greenville HS) an OCCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for February 21–27, 2022.
Claudy went 2-for-3 and drew a walk in four plate appearances at USC Salkehatchie. She drove in two runs and scored another of her own as the Chargers split the doubleheader.
Shaffer tossed a 5-inning complete game in the Lady Chargers’ 10-2 mercy rule win at USC Salkehatchie. She scattered seven hits in allowing a lone earned run (two total runs) with a strikeout.
The Lady Chargers are currently 1-3 overall.
