Darke County Foundation supports Empowering Youth among its grant recipients

The Darke County Foundation distributed $163,000 in community grants, including awards to 37 non-profit organizations that serve Darke County residents. Included was a major grant to Empowering Darke County Youth.

“On behalf of our board, staff and kids, I would like to thank the Foundation for helping us help our kids this year,” said Bob Robinson, Empowering Executive Director. “This grant will be put to good use as we work to reach Darke County students struggling in their academics.”

In a press release, the Darke County Foundation said the grant recognition program was held at the new Birchwood Training Center in Greenville. “Congratulations to these deserving groups that provide meaningful programs and services in our community!”

In addition to Empowering Darke County Youth, the Foundation provided grants to Council on Rural Services, Gateway Youth Programs, CORS, Ansonia Local Schools, Arcanum High School, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Shelby & Darke County, Bradford High School, Bradford Ohio Railroad Museum, Cancer Association of Darke County, Coalition for a Healthy Darke County, Darke County Center for the Arts, Darke County Special Olympics, Darke County United Way, Inc., EUM Church, EverHeart Hospice, Final Bow Center for Children’s Performing Arts, Friends of Bear’s Mill, Garst Museum and The National Annie Oakley Center, Greenville Public Library (Ohio), Illumination Festival, Kinder Korner Preschool, Ohio Wave, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Dayton, The House that Lulu Built, Versailles High School, Heritage Park, Versailles Ohio, Versailles Music Boosters, YMCA of Darke County, and Yolo Races.

Empowering Darke County Youth conducts six programs for students needing academic help: After School Programs in Greenville (Elementary and Middle), Ansonia (1-6), and Arcanum-Butler (Middle), summer tutoring at Greenville Public Library, and year around virtual tutoring at Empowering Distance.
