
Ohio Lt. Governor Jim Tressel to speak at Lincoln Day Dinner
GREENVILLE, OH ─ The Darke County Republican Party (DCRP) is excited to announce that Lt. Governor and former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel is the keynote speaker at its Lincoln Day Dinner. The event will be on April 10 at the Eldora Ballroom. The dinner is an annual event, bringing together conservative leaders from across Ohio to commemorate Abraham Lincoln, who was the first Republican President of the United States.
“It is an exciting time in the Republican Party, and we are so very excited to welcome Lt. Governor Jim Tressel to Darke County this spring. He has shown an authenticity and true servant’s heart in every job title he has had. We are thankful that he is now willing to bring these skill sets to help lead the State of Ohio,” commented DCRP Executive Committee Chairman Katie DeLand.
Governor Mike DeWine recently appointed Tressel to the office of Lieutenant Governor which had been vacated due to Jon Husted’s appointment to the United States Senate. Previously, Mr. Tressel served as the president of Youngstown State University from 2014-2023, where he had previously coached earlier in his career. Most notably, Mr. Tressel was the head coach for The Ohio State University’s football team from 2001-2011. During his tenure there, he led the team to three Bowl Championship games. The team and the 2002 National Championship title in a historic 14-0 season.
