Darrell Gene Olwine, 72 of Arcanum, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 3:40 PM at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born March 12, 1949, in Greenville, Ohio, the son of the late Harold Eugene & Oletha Mae Olwine.
He enjoyed listening to country music, watching western movies, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland sports teams, the Browns and the Indians. His hobbies included golfing and mowing the grass while his wife gardened. In the words of a long-time neighbor, “He was a corker!”
He graduated from Arcanum High School, Class of ’67, and after a 30-year career at General Motors retired from the Harrison Radiator division in 1999. Then for several years, he worked at Emrick Machine & Tool in Arcanum. His last job was with the Village of Arcanum maintaining the park and town grounds.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vicky Jo Olwine; and his brother, Harold Olwine, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Shannon Olwine & Mohit Mehta of Phoenix, Arizona; “grandpups,” Masala and Tikka; brother, Jerry Olwine; sister, Beverly Cain; sisters-in-law, Jackie Olwine and Susie Collins; brother & sister-in-law, Kenny & Candi Cook; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Services will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 3 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in Newcomer Cemetery, Arcanum, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Monday, May 24, 2021 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arcanum Fire & Rescue or the Arcanum Athletic Boosters with envelopes available at the funeral home.
