David Leonard McGriff, 79, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at his home early Thursday morning, January 6, 2022.
He was born on December 20, 1942, in Greenville, to the late Byron D. and Mary Naomi (McEowen) McGriff.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura McGriff.
David was a 1960 graduate of Greenville High School. After graduation, he enlisted and served in the United States Army. David was born and raised on a farm. From a young age, he learned the lessons life and hard work by helping his dad on the farm. He followed in his Dad’s footsteps and was a life-long farmer.
David is survived by his children, Denise (Shawn) Fourman and Nathan (Leanna Coby) McGriff, all of Greenville; his grandchildren, Alexis (fiancé Marvin Epperson) Fourman, Caitlin Fourman, Jared Aukerman, Brady McGriff, and Adalyn McGriff; his great grandson, Bentley McCombs; his sisters, Rosalyn (William) Brinley of Hollansburg, Christina (Ron) Lyme of Ansonia, Ohio, and Mary Alice (Eldon) Wolter of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of David’s life, with full military honors provided by the Greenville Honor Guard, will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Alan Knoke officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Union Cemetery.
The family will be receiving guests on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
