David N. Price, 72, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2022, at his home.
He was born on October 18, 1949, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Charles and Jewel (Dearing) Price.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard Price, Terry Price, and Cheryl Price.
David was a graduate of Arcanum High School. He then joined the United States Navy, where he served honorably for over 4 years in the United States Naval Construction Battalions, commonly known as the Navy Seabees. David then returned home and began his 30-year career as a Construction Estimator in the Civil Engineering department at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton.
In his free time, David enjoyed farming and being with his farm animals, especially his horses and pigs. He liked to go deep sea fishing on his boat in Florida. David’s love for construction continued throughout this life. He was a “fixer” and built many barns for himself and his family and friends. If he wasn’t building the actual barns, he was probably consulting with someone on how to build them. David was a devout Christian, and a member of the Castine Church, where he served on the administration team. He also was a member of the Arcanum VFW and was the Quartermaster for 20 years. David was an avid supporter of the Darke County 4-H program and the Darke County Fair.
David is survived by his wife of 26 years, Karen (Mitchell) Price, whom he married on February 10, 1996; his children, Jenna (Wes) Harleman of Okeechobee, Florida, Matt (Beth Bailey) Collins Price of Arcanum, Joseph Price of New Madison, Amy (Douglas) Hollinger of New Madison, and Gabriel (Jamie) Wombolt of Hollansburg; his grandchildren, Alaysa Harleman, Austin Harleman, Riley (Dylen) Price, Kara (Noah) Burns, Jerzey Collins, Joey Price, Isabell Price, Lanie Price, Kaleb Wombolt, and Taylor Wombolt; his great grandson, Riggs Price; his sister, Kathy (Bud) Gootee of Greenville; his sister-in-law, Carol Price of Arcanum; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of David’s life, with military honors, will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Castine Church, 624 US Route 127, Arcanum, OH 45304.
