Farst, David W., DVM, age 74, of Arcanum, passed away unexpectedly at his home with his wife by his side on Sunday, October 23, 2022 following a prolonged illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Maxine Farst, by a son, Michael David Farst, by 4 infant grandsons & by a brother-in-law, Charles Cook.
He practiced Veterinary Medicine for 42 years, 38 of those in Arcanum, and he was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He spent 10 years at The Ohio State University, culminating in earning his DVM degree in 1975. He was a past president of the OSU Veterinary Alumni Society. He did veterinary missionary work in Honduras and he actively served on several Darke County boards and associations. He was proud to be a Buckeye!
David is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ava; children, Stephanie (Matt) Hamilton, Emily (Greg) Bice & Kevin (Saria) Farst; grandchildren, Drew, Aly, JoJo, Abby, Emmett, Mae, Aaron & Callan; step-mother, Beverly Farst; brother-in-law, Tom (Marilyn) Cook; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Larry) Winner & numerous beloved family & friends.
Funeral services will be held 10 am Sat. Oct. 29 at Faith UMC, 101 E. South St. Arcanum, with burial to follow in Otterbein Cemetery, Castine. Visitation will be held 4-7 pm Friday at the church and Saturday from 9:15 am until service time. Arrangements are entrusted to Kreitzer Funeral Home, 204 N. Main St. Arcanum, OH 45304.
