Darke County Center for the Arts will present zany singer/songwriter/poet Zak Morgan to kindergarten through third-graders in all local public schools during the week of November 8. According to DCCA Artistic Director David Warner, Morgan’s interactive school assemblies are filled with warmth, wordplay, and laughter. “Zak is extremely skilled at encouraging children to read, imagine, and believe in themselves while they just think that they are having a lot of fun,” Warner explained. Warner went on to say that in Zak Morgan’s program entitled “Read and Bloom,” students will learn basic music lessons while building their confidence and enhancing their reading and listening skills.
Cincinnati resident Morgan performs family concerts as well as presenting shows for children at schools and libraries throughout the country, using music and humor to entertain and enlighten his audiences. In addition to his musical abilities, Zak Morgan’ talents as a storyteller have earned praise from critics, parents, and audiences across the nation. He has recorded five well-received albums, with his second, When Bullfrogs Croak, earning a Grammy nomination and his most recent, The Barber of the Beasts, featuring a collaboration with legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame funk artist Bootsy Collins.
DCCA’s Art In Education program annually presents high-quality performing artists to students at all grade levels in every local public school at no charge to the students.
