Introduction to Weather
July 1 at 6pm at Shawnee Prairie Preserve
Weather forecasting doesn’t just have to be for the professionals! We will explore the basics of weather from terms like barometric pressure and dew point, to cloud formations and what they can tell us about weather to come.
Summer Strolls: Butterflies of Darke County
Every Saturday in July at 10am at Shawnee Prairie Preserve
Discover the butterfly species that inhabit Darke County while taking a stroll around Shawnee Prairie Preserve!
Geocaching 101
July 3 at 2pm at Bish Discovery Center
Join a naturalist to discover the fun of Geocaching! Learn how to use your smart phone (or handheld GPS) to go on a treasure hunt just about anywhere in the world!
Dragons of Darke County
July 10 at 1pm at Shawnee Prairie Preserve
Tag along with a Naturalist for an afternoon hike into the prairie where we will hunt for dragonflies. Equipped with nets we will attempt to capture, identify, and document as many species as possible. Joined by the Southwest Coordinator of the Ohio Dragonfly Survey, Jim Lemon, we will submit our data to iNaturalist for Darke County.
Cycling and Coffee
July 13 at 10am at Bish Discovery Center
Join us for a bike ride (15 mi round trip) to Bear’s Mill for some coffee and pastries.
