Dean Hurd, age 88 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 3:00 PM Wednesday July 21, 2021 at the Brethren Retirement Community of Greenville. Dean was born May 6, 1933 in Dayton, Ohio and the son of the late Theophilus Myles and Gladys Ophelia (Clemens) Hurd.
He was retired from the former Ex-Cell-O Cadillac Gage Company after 42 years of employment and in 1961 started the Dean Hurd & Son Garage Door Installation and Service Company and from this was known all over the county. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army and a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church of Greenville. He also loved and collected Wheel Horse Tractors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Richard Hurd, Twin Brother Donald Hurd, David Hurd, James Hurd as an infant, Joseph Manning, William Manning and J.B. Thomas.
Dean is survived by his wife Mary Evelyn (Harris) Hurd of Greenville. They were married October 22, 1960. Also children Dean Allen (Kris) Hurd of Greenville, Denise (Jeff) Bolton of Farmers Branch, Texas and Stephanie (Michael) Peterson of Medford, Oregon, grandchildren Kathryn E. Hurd, Dean Alexander Hurd, Evan (Madelynn) Bolton and Rachel (Kellen) Wilson; great grandson Jack Wilson; brothers Ralph (Ann) Hurd and Frank Hurd all of Greenville; sisters Elizabeth Olinger of Dayton, Ohio, Edith Perkins of Washington D.C. and Gloria (Terry) Buckingham of Greenville as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday August 21, 2021 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio and the family will be receiving friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. The Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors at 4:45 PM in the funeral home.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to EverHeart Hospice of Darke County, Ohio
