Don T. Drew, 83 of New Paris, Ohio, passed away on Monday March 14, 2022, at 6:13 AM at Village Green Health Campus, Greenville, Ohio. Don was born February 14, 1939 in New Madison, Ohio, the son of the late Ernest and Alma (Rotroff) Drew.
Don served his nation honorably in the United States Air Force; he worked for 32 years at Dana Corp. Perfect Circle in Richmond then he worked for 17 years at the Darke County Sheriff’s Office where he served as the DARE Officer after retiring from there he served as a Harrison Twp. Trustee for several years.
Don was a member of Castine Church, he loved coaching kids and playing softball, which led to him becoming the DARE Officer and gave him the desire to get involved with Hooked on Fishing not Drugs for youth; he loved gardening and was known to give everything he grew away.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother: Ronald Drew.
Don is survived by his wife: Ila Louise (Harrison) Drew of New Paris, whom he married January 25, 1958; his sons and daughter in law: Donnie J. Drew and Jean Kirtley of New Paris, David Austin and Kathleen Drew of Alabama; his grandchildren: Derek, Keisha, Jessica, Brandon, Olivia, and Austin; 10 great grandchildren; his brothers: Robert Drew and William Drew; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday March 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Greg Hyre officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday March 20, 2022 and 1 hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home. Veterans Graveside Honors will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tri Village We Are The Majority.
