Donald Ray Walter

July 1, 1931 – November 6, 2024

Donald Ray Walter, born in 1931, peacefully passed away, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Don served his country during the Korea conflict, exemplifying the spirit of service to America.

In 1956, he married his beloved wife, Joyce, with whom he shared a remarkable 68 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories in Ansonia and Greenville, Ohio.

Donald was a devoted father to his three sons. He is now reunited in Heaven with his two sons, Brian and Michael (Cathy Walter), whom he looked forward to seeing again. His surviving son, Scott (Ruth Ann Walter), resides in California.

As a grandfather, Donald took great pride in his three grandchildren: Kristen (Petter Hallaraker), Ashley, and Michael II. He cherished every moment spent with them, and his legacy will continue through their lives.

An exceptional musician, Don played piano and organ in many bands for over 50 years, bringing joy to countless listeners through his music. He also shared his talents in barbershop quartets and chorus’s. In addition he loved worship music and served as an organist at the United Christian Church and other local churches in Ansonia, where his music uplifted and inspired congregations.

Donald Ray Walter will be remembered not only for his service to his country but also for his unwavering love for his family and friends. He leaves a profound impact on all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

A celebration of his life will be held at Zechar Funeral Home on Nov 13 at 11:00AM with the family receiving friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to honor this remarkable man. Burial with military honors conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will take place at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Everheart Hospice organization in Donald’s name.
