Donna “Joan” Abner age 89, of Palestine passed away at 3:00 pm Sunday, June 2, 2024, at her residence.
Joan was born July 18, 1934, in Hollansburg to the late Ralph Amos & Louie Margaret Ellen (Wright) Snyder. Joan was also preceded in death by her husband, William D. Abner whom she married July 26, 1952; brother & sister-in-law, Jerry & Marge Snyder; sisters & brothers-in-law, Alice Kay & David Runner, Kathryn Fay Meyers and Barbara Joyce & Ted Mowery; brother-in-law, Bennie Kreitzer; nephews, Kevin Mowery, Dwight Runner, Carey Runner, Doug Snyder, and Steven Snyder; and nieces, Rhonda Cummings and Robin Snyder.
Joan is survived by her siblings, Carolyn Sue Kreitzer of Palestine and Ralph Eugene & Ellen Snyder of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joan worked for 22 years at INA Insurance in Richmond, Indiana and then retired from New Madison Public Library in 1997 with 20 years of service. She was a member of the Palestine Church of Christ. Joan enjoyed mowing her lawn, reading, organizing the family reunion and working in her flower garden.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Jim Morehouse officiating. Burial will follow in Hollansburg Cemetery.
