What a great week at Eldora Speedway!
Eldora Speedway wrote history with the biggest purse in the history of dirt track racing: on Thursday Logan Schuchart took the amount of $1,002,023 home
The 40th Kings Royal drew the biggest crowd in the history of the Big E
And Donny Schatz won the 6th time the title “King” and is now only one title short of Steve Kinser’s all-time record of 7.
Donny Schatz won the title “King” in 2007, 2009, 2016, 2017, 2018 and this year! The payout for this year’s victory is $175,000.
A few crashes, causing red-flag breaks, a few yellow-flag situations and a refuel in the pit lane couldn’t stop Donny on his way to victory.
Donny Schatz won his heat race earlier and started from row 1 together with Parker Price-Miller, who also won his heat race. Parker fell back during the race and eventually crashed his car.
Brent Marks started from position 11 in row 6 and came in second, David Gravel finished third, starting from row two. Rico Abreu was able to fight his way up the most places. He started in the 10th row from the 20th position and saw the black and white checkered flag in sixth place.
Schatz shared that his team tried some different things that worked in the past after his car was drifting too far to the left and the right and it obviously worked.
The 50/50 raffle at the Kings Royal made someone almost $85,000 richer. Across the four racing days, a total of over $250,000 was awarded to four winners, which means that the same amount was raised for Tony Stewart’s Foundation and Racing for Relief.
Another great and successful week at Eldora Speedway.
