Douglas Michael Custenborder, age 67 of Winter Haven, Florida and formerly of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 12:01 PM Sunday April 3, 2022 at his home with his wife Dotty at his side. Doug was born April 22, 1954 in Sidney, Ohio and the son of the late William and Frances “Fritz” (Bouquot) Custenborder.
He retired in 2009 as an Officer with Greenville National Bank after 30 years of service. In 2010, Doug and Dotty moved to Lake Ashton Golf Community in Winter Haven, Florida, as both were avid golfers. Doug will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong spiritual faith, professional integrity, passion for cooking for family and friends, heroic long drives on the golf course, as well as errant ones, and his quirky sense of humor. He never complained in a nearly 3-year battle with cancer and his friends and family admired and loved him deeply.
Doug is survived by his wife Dorothy “Dotty” (Yahl) Custenborder of Winter Haven, Florida. They were married April 14, 1985. Also sons Clint (Meghan) Howell of Loveland, Ohio and Mitch (Nikki) Custenborder of Scituate, Massachusetts; mother Catherine “Kate” (Ratermann) Custenborder of Versailles, Ohio; sister Carol (Gary) Kunze of Dayton, Ohio; brother Pat (Kim) Custenborder of Versailles, Ohio; sisters-in-law Barb (Bernie) Poeppelman of Anna, Ohio and Rita (Mike) Daugherty of St. Mary’s Ohio; grandchildren Madelyn and Elliott Howell and Stella, Wyatt and Livvy Custenborder as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday April 27, 2022 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Father Matt Feist officiating. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery Sidney, Ohio with Deacon Tom Graber officiating. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the services (day/date) in the funeral home.
