Dr. Frederic Lee Hoff, 79, of Greenville, Ohio, Woodbridge, Virginia and Dunnellon, Florida passed away unexpectedly on the evening of November 26, 2021, in Naples, Florida.  Fred was quickly surrounded in love by his fiancée and two daughters and had enjoyed a fun-filled week in Naples golfing, visiting the zoo and botanical gardens, and taking a walk to the beach to watch the sunset.  Fred was born January 18, 1942, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Sheldon Hoff & Harriet Ruth (Shively) Hoff.  He was also proceeded in death by his second wife of 30 years, Shirley Ann (Matthews) Hoff of Greenville, Ohio and Woodbridge, Virginia.

Fred is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Gary & Mary Katherine (Neeld) Hoff of Arkansas; fiancée, Virginia Saalman of Florida; first wife of 20 years, Karen Lee (Aten) King of Virginia; daughters and son-in-law, Michelle Lee (Hoff) & Kevin Charles Attreed and Kelley Lynn Hoff of Virginia; step daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer Ann (Aldridge) & Daniel George Bozone of Texas, Rachael Maria (Aldridge) & Victor Molina of Virginia, Gretchen Lynn (Aldridge) & Luigi Morfea of New York;  grandchildren Corbin Charles Attreed & fiancée Rebecca Anne Baumstark, Amber Marie Attreed, and Nolan Thomas Attreed of Virginia; Chelsea Ann-Marie Bozone & Miguel Lumaque and Emmalea Danielle Bozone & Matthew Salley of Texas; Nicholas Matthew Morfea and Christopher Dale Morfea of New York; and Vigo Hugh Molina, Isabel Maria Molina and Alan Cole Molina of Virginia; and great-grandchildren Skylar Bennett Lumaque, Baleigh Nicole Salley and Paul Edwin Salley of Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Fred retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in the District of Columbia in 2011 after 41 years of dedicated service as an agricultural economist where he researched and authored many articles and publications on topics such as sugar cane and honeybees, to name just a few.

Following retirement Fred returned to his hometown of Greenville, splitting his time between Ohio, Virginia and more recently Dunnellon, Florida.  During his retirement years, Fred enjoyed fishing, watching sports and movies, browsing antique shops, and traveling. Fred earned his doctorate degree from the University of Kentucky in Agricultural Economics, masters from University of Missouri and bachelors from Ohio State University.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, 1499 North Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio, Saturday, December 18, 2021, beginning at noon with a service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Todd Reish officiating.   A burial will follow at Greenville Union Cemetery.  Condolences for the family may be expressed through www.zecharbailey.com as well as donations to the American Diabetes Association.
