Duane L. Sander age 91, of Greenville passed away at 3:10 pm Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Village Green Health Campus in Greenville.
Duane was born October 31, 1931, in Greenville to the late Frederick & Minnie (Grote) Sander. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean (Hughes) Sander on March 14, 2019, whom he married September 11, 1955; and siblings, Pauline (Emerson) Willis, Lester (Edna) Sander, Richard (Jean) Sander and Thelma Marker.
Duane is survived by his children, Frederick (Sandra) Sander of Monroe, Dr. Daryl (Lynn) Sander of Galion and Dr. Dana (Bart) Caylor of Fishers, Indiana; grandchildren, Lauren (Mark) Ledermeier, Kyle Sander, Michelle (Kevin) Gniazdowski, Danielle Sander, Benjamin Caylor, Nathan Caylor, Ash Caylor and Lily Caylor; great grandchildren, Savannah Ledermeier, Lexi Ledermeier, Ryleigh Sander, Luke Gniazdowski, Sloane Gniazdowski, Valerie Gniazdowski and Peter Gniazdowski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Duane served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a lifelong farmer and carpenter. He owned and operated Sander Construction. Duane was a member of Greenville First Assembly of God and the Greenville American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and hunting.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, July 31, 2023, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Dale Boeger officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Greenville with full military honors conducted by the Greenville veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Greenville First Assembly of God in Duane’s memory.
