Edison State Community College is celebrating women’s history with themed weekly events throughout March. These events will promote inspiration, impact, and creativity while honoring women’s vital contributions to American history and are open to Edison State students, alumni, faculty, and staff, as well as all community members in the region.
Events Edison State will present throughout the month include:
- Leadership Panel, Wednesday, March 5, 11:30 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. Find inspiration as regional female leaders share their success stories. The College encourages attendees to wear active or casual attire so they can engage in the activities after the panel. The first 50 people in attendance will receive a free smoothie.
- Self-Care Sessions, Wednesday, March 5. The Miami County YMCA–UVMC/Premier Health Branch will provide two free, engaging self-care sessions. The two 30-minute sessions will take place simultaneously at 12:30 p.m. and again at 1 p.m. One session will use yoga to focus on balance and calm, while the other will have participants follow the rhythm of Zumba to tone and sculpt their bodies.
- Impact Competition, Monday, March 3, to Thursday, March 13. Anyone can form teams of up to five to collect donations to positively impact local communities. These donations will support organizations such as the Family Abuse Shelter of Miami County, New Choices, Inc. in Shelby County, and Shelter from Violence, Inc. in Darke County. Teams must be registered online by Monday, March 3.
- Clothing Drive. Anyone can donate professional attire, prom, wedding, or formal dresses for a worthy cause. Drop off donations between March 1 and March 11 at any Edison State location or directly to representatives of local nonprofit organizations on Tuesday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Piqua Campus. Donations will benefit Morgan’s Place Cemetery, Clothes That Work, and Hope Closet Dresses.
- Impact Jam, Thursday, March 13, 12 to 3 p.m. Listen to influential female artists and have fun while helping to organize donations collected during the Impact Competition.
- Create in the Courtyard, Tuesday, March 25, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This will include all activities in the realm of art and creation, including a ceramics sale, sidewalk chalk art, bracelet making, temporary tattoos, soap making, and more. The first 120 people to attend will receive a free cupcake.
- Inspiration Stations will be available throughout the month at each Edison State location. Stop by the wall to take or leave a positive message or write an inspiring message showing appreciation for the women in your life. Supplies will be available at the Robinson Student Career Center at the Piqua Campus and near the front desk at the Greenville, Troy, and Eaton locations.
