Eldene “Dene” Lambert of Darke County and Arcanum, Ohio, age 92, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 4, 2023. Dene was born to the late Gerald “G.O.” and Ruth (Richter) Lambert on August 22, 1930. Dene is preceded in death by his parents and son-in- law Daryl Kollmeyer.
He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 73 years, Phyllis (Flory) Lambert, children Curtis (Rose) Lambert and Robin (Francis) McLean, grandchildren Korbin Kollmeyer, Klinton Kollmeyer, Cameron (Brooklyn) Lambert, Ashley (Najib) Sayed, great-grandsons Nathan Kollmeyer, Logan Kollmeyer, Aiden Kollmeyer, James Lambert, step-grandson Colin McLean, brother Doug (Barb) Lambert, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members and dear friends.
Dene had a full life and enjoyed several careers as well as being a third generation farmer. He worked for Trans World Airlines beginning in 1965, retiring after 20 years. After his retirement, he entered the police academy and became a certified police officer for the state of Ohio. He had the distinction of being the oldest graduate in Ohio police academy history. He served on the Arcanum police force from 1985-1999. Dene also served on the Board of Directors of the Arcanum National Bank and assisted with the merger with Greenville National Bank.
Dene had many hobbies including travel, stained glass art and various church committees and projects over the years. He was a member of the Arcanum Blue Lodge No. 195, Darke County Shrine Club, Scottish Rite in 1963 and Antioch Temple in 1964, and also had served as provost in 2000.
