DTWC Entry would mark his 36th consecutive year racing at Eldora Speedway
ROSSBURG, Ohio – Legendary dirt late model driver Scott Bloomquist has made his intentions known that he will be racing in Carl Short’s 43rd General Tire Dirt Track World Championship, presented by ARP at Eldora Speedway, October 20-21. It will mark the only time Bloomquist will compete during the 2023 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season.
Bloomquist is a three-time DTWC Champion (2005/2014/2015) and has made 32 starts in the dirt classic; more than any other driver in event history.
Eldora has been a good venue for Bloomquist throughout his career. By competing in the DTWC, he will keep his streak alive of consecutive years racing at the “Big E.” This will mark the 36th consecutive year of racing at least one-time at the hallowed half-mile clay oval. The Mooresburg, TN resident is a four-time World 100 Champion (1988/1990/2001/2014) and eight-time Dirt Late Model Dream Champion (1995/2002/2004/2006/2008/2013/2017/2018).
This is the first year that Eldora Speedway will host Carl Short’s prestigious DTWC. More than $1.3 million in event purse and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point fund money will be on the line in the 100-lap season finale. Four drivers consisting of Ricky Thornton, Jr., Hudson O’Neal, Jonathan Davenport, and Devin Moran, are in the Big River Steel Chase for the Championship and have the opportunity to become the 2023 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion; taking home a record $200,000 for the title. Combined with the first-place payout of the DTWC, one of the four drivers could potentially earn $300,000 for his 50-mile drive on Saturday night.
