Eldora Speedway, on of Darke County’s attractions, played host to two days of heart-pounding racing action on May 3rd and 4th with its #LetsRaceTwo event. Despite the ever-watchful eye on the weather radar, racing enthusiasts were treated to a spectacular showcase of talent as drivers battled it out on the dirt track.
Friday’s festivities kicked off with the USAC opener, delivering a nail-biting photo finish that left spectators on the edge of their seats. Robert Ballou, starting from 11th place, showcased his skill and determination as he edged out Kyle Cummins by a mere few inches, claiming victory with a razor-thin margin of 0.016 seconds. Max Adams secured third place, followed by Briggs Danner and Matt Westfall to complete the top 5.
The excitement continued with the World of Outlaws race, as Sheldon Haudenschild powered his way to victory, crossing the finish line ahead of Giovanni Scelzi and Donny Schatz, who claimed second and third place respectively. Logan Schuchart and Carson Marcedo rounded out the top 5.
Saturday brought another day of exhilarating racing action, with Justin Grant emerging victorious in the USAC race. Grant’s impressive performance saw him maneuver his way from the 5th starting position to claim the coveted first place, only to add an unexpected twist by crashing his car during his victory lap. Logan Seavey and Brady Bacon secured second and third place respectively, with Kevin Thomas and C.J. Leary rounding out the top 5.
The weekend culminated with another adrenaline-fueled showdown in the World of Outlaws race, where David Gravel emerged triumphant after a fierce battle with Donny Schatz. Gravel, starting from the pole position, showcased his skill and determination as he held off Schatz to secure the win. Carson Marcedo, Giovanni Scelzi, and Logan Schuchart delivered stellar performances to claim third, fourth, and fifth place respectively, thrilling fans until the very end.
Throughout the two-day event, spectators were treated to a display of skill, speed, and adrenaline as drivers pushed themselves and their machines to the limit on Eldora’s legendary dirt track. While crashes and red light phases added to the drama, the safety of the drivers remained paramount, with no serious injuries reported.
