Evelyn Irene Chambers, age 92, of Greenville, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on the morning of March 5, 2025, at EverHeart Hospice Care Center in Greenville, Ohio.
She was born October 20, 1932, in Rossburg, Ohio, daughter of the late Elmer and Bessie (Manning) Neal.
On December 7, 1956, she married the love of her life, Vernon Eugene Chambers. Her husband of 56 years went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2013.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah “Debbie” Green and fiance Bruce Biddlestone of Tipp City, Ohio, and Kimberly “Kim” and husband Brad Berner of Greenville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Lance (Morgan) Berner, Kami Berner, Michelle (Tyler) Eaton, and Michael (Shelby) Green; three great grandchildren, Austin Berner, Abram and Adler Green, and Baby Eaton due in September; two step-grandchildren, Nicole Green Prusak and Scott Green; three step-great-grandchildren, Alexis and Tessa Prusak, and Harper Green; a sister-in-law, Betty Neal of Greenville, Ohio; three sisters-in-laws, Mabel Schweizer of Richmond, Indiana, Wanda (Jerry) Butt of Sebring, Florida, and Nina Royer of Indiana; one brother-in-law Robert Murphy of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by family friend Steve Green of Tipp City, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Chambers; two sisters and brother-in-law, Muriel Neal, Mary (Mel) Hiestand, and brothers and sister-in-laws, Lester (Audra) Neal, Roscoe (Francis) Neal, Carl (Ruth) Neal, and Walter Neal. She is also preceded in death by her in-laws Susan (Stuart) Jay, Dorothy Murphy, Richard “Dick” Chambers, Harry Schweizer, and Dale Royer.
Evelyn was a devoted housewife and wonderful mother. She loved her family very much, loved cooking, baking, gardening, fishing, playing cards, marbles, watching the Cincinnati Reds play, and Hallmark movies. She was a member of the Abbottsville United Methodist Church. She graduated from New Madison High School.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Chris Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Tuesday prior to the service.
