Farmers are very busy throughout the growing season and field scouting can be difficult to do other than from the truck. Scouting your crops can increase economic and agronomic efficiency on the farm by pinpointing issues before they become a major problem. Consistent field scouting may also find pests that are new to the area before they become widely problematic.
Therefore, the Darke County Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator, Taylor Dill, is offering a scouting update program.
Taylor will be scouting fields involved with research trials throughout the county and will share what she sees via text update. Fields will be scouted two days of the week, and text message updates will be sent to those who sign up. The update will consist of the issues found, management recommendation, a picture of the issue, and the region of the county the problem was found in. If you would like to get scouting updates all you have to do is call the Extension office at 937-548-5215 or email dill.138@osu.edu.
