The Darke County Fair Board held its February Meeting on Wednesday, February 7th with all 11 Board members present.
Kathleen Ditmer handed over a check from the dog committee for the dog crate containers to the Board. She asked for a check presentation with committee members and all of the Board at the ground-breaking ceremony for the new building.
Tim Reck, who has resigned as President of the DCHHA, gave the Board an update on the Barn Renovation Project. He explained that they spent about $44,300 from the $59,750 they had for the barn project so far and that this is by far the most work that has been done to the barns since his 45 years as a horseman.
Via a Zoom call, Cameron Daimra, grandson of Kim Harless, informed the Board about details regarding the FairDash App, he’s working on.
During Old Business, the board connected to a Zoom call with Cameron Daimra, a software engineer with family in Darke County, who gave updates on the FairDash App project. This app would work like DoorDash and similar food delivery apps. And people would be able to order fair-food at participating vendors and so called FairDash Runners would deliver the food.
The Board will stay in contact with Cameron to get updates on the progress of the develpoment of the app.
Laura Ahrens, Fair Manager, informed that Verizon will help with the Internet at the fair by putting up a temporary antenna at no cost for the fair. Ahrens shared that she talked to a County Fair in Pennsylvania who used this already and they confirmed that this makes a big difference.
Director Dean Neff announced an upcoming Gun Raffle. He said that some people like it and some not, but it’s a way to raise money to help the upkeeping. Tickets are available in the Fair Office.
