Fairboard held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday 11/06

After a reception for Jim Zumbrink who lost his seat at the Board in the election during the 2024 Great Darke County Fair, the Darke County Fair Board held its regular November Meeting on Wednesday, November 6th with all Board members present.

4-H advisor Tim Rhodes complained during the public comments about the lack of communication by the Board. He stressed that it is important to communicate and that the lack of communication is a major problem. He said that he believes this year was the worst year he has had in 49 years as 4-H advisor because of no communication.

In old business the Board discussed the replacement of water lines. In a previous meeting the Board approved the replacement of water lines but missed to talk about the costs. In this meeting the Board agreed on a cap of $5000.

The Board also talked under old business about the rates for rent for the new building.

At the end of the discussion about new business, Jim Zumbrink left the Board and the newly elected Board Member Jayden Hicks was seated.

Under new business the Board discussed the membership rates and costs for daily admission. Christoph Keller suggested to keep the membership cost at $25 until Aug. 1 and after that date raise it to $30. The same would apply to youth non-voting tickets for youth living in Darke County. The Board will discuss this issue in a work session to find a solution.

The Board also elected new Officers. Greg Pearson did not run for re-election as President of the Board. Marla Werner and Heidi May were nominated for this position and Marla Werner was elected as new Board President. For the position of Vice President Dean Neff and Heidi May were nominated and Dean Neff was winning this election. Craig Bowman and Curtis Yount rwere nominated for treasurer, with Craig Bowman being elected.
