The Board of the Directors of the darke County Agricultural Society held its regular meeting on 3/1 with all members (11) present.
The Fair Manager Laura Ahrens informed the Board that the head caretaker Barry Boyard did resign and that Rex Weyrick was hired to fill the position.
After evaluating buildings and equipment, Weyrick came up with a long to-do list, including repairing the horseshoe pits and restrooms. ACME Plumbing will start replacing all toilets on the grounds.
Brian Rismiller informed the Board about looking into sponsorships as an untapped revenue source. He suggested sponsorship packages with different levels of sponsorship. At obe time they discussed the possibility of daily sponsors, with a sign at every gate, and the sponsor being recognized during the announcements. Adding a couple of seats in the Grandstand at the particular day’s events or box seats could also be an addition to a package.
The Board also made decisions about repairing some of the horse barns. The Board agreed on purchasing 150 mats as well as necessary wood to repair stalls in Barn 6. With this material approximately 25 stall would get the necessary repairs.
