GREENVILLE- A 2022 graduate of Arcanum High School, Madelyn Fearon has been showing pigs since she was three years old. Now at the age of 19, Fearon beat out her younger brother Seth for grand champion.
“Winning this means a lot to me, ” said Fearon. “I spend a lot of time with my pig and it’s nice to know that my hard work has paid off. With this being my last year, I wanted to go out with a bang.”
The daughter of Mike and Rachel Fearon, Madelyn give a lot of credit for her success to them.
“My parents give me and my brother a lot of encouragement to be our best, ” Fearon said. “Dad spends a lot of time in the barns with us, giving us advice and helping us to do thing the right way. I know it’s not easy for him because he runs his own business. Mom has always been there for us in so many ways and Seth and myself couldn’t have done it without them.”
While Fearon proved to be at the top of her group, she was very happy when she was able to beat out her brother.”
“He’s always wanted to beat me and he never has,” Fearon said with a smile. ” What makes it great is he was reserve grand champion and that says a lot for us because he puts in the time. It’s a great sibling rivalry and we have fun with it but now I hope he can win in the future. I have to admit, I was a little nervous that he was that close to me in the final decision.”
Fearn has entered college at Ohio-Dominican and will major in early childhood education and will play basketball for the Lady Panthers.
