We have quite a few car shows in Darke County and surrounding counties, but no truck show – and with trucks, we’re not talking about pick-up trucks.
Tim and Vanessa Magoto, a young couple who are two of the owners of the Fireside Resort, changed that.
The couple planned and organized the first annual Truck Show in Darke County – and 20+ trucks showed up. A great outcome!
Tim owns (and drives) a Semi himself, so this show was something that comes from his heart and it showed.
Jeff Evers from Maria Stein came with his 1999 Kenworth W900.
“I worked till 1AM, but I wanted to make it to the show. I wanted to wax the truck but there just wasn’t the time to do it”, shared Jeff.
Jeff hand-waxes his truck every now and then and this is job that takes many hours. It shows that Jeff is taking care of the more than 30 years old truck, which is used on a daily basis to haul farm commodities.
The three oldest truck displayed were from the 70’s: oldest truck was a 1973 blue cab-over “White Freightliner”. The second oldest truck was a red 1975 Autocar dump truck and a 1978 white International Transtar II was the third oldest. All three of them are still used as work trucks, not show trucks!
When it got dark close to the end of the event the trucks performed quite a “Light-and-Sound-Show”!
The Magoto’s did a great job with this event and hopefully we will see it for many years to come.
