Franklin Benjamin “Frank” Dawson, 84 of Ansonia, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday August 2, 2022 at 10:02 PM at his residence. Frank was born February 6, 1938 in Clermont County, Ohio, the son of the late Franklin and Dora Mae (DeHart) Dawson. Frank served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He worked as a truck driver for 52 years working for Fast Motor Freight Company, Subler Trucking, Zumstein Inc. for 18 years, and retired from A.L. Smith trucking
Frank was a member of First Baptist Church, Gettysburg Masonic Lodge where he was a Past Master, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton; Antioch Shrine, Darke County Shrine Club, Eastern Star, American Legion, Eagles, and the NRA. Frank loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, gardening, and he especially loved his dog Sofia.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 36 years Anna Lee Dawson on August 1, 2015 whom he married June 30, 1979, his brothers: Luther, Bill, Ed, Carl, Eldridge, Bob, and Harlen Dawson, his sisters: Dora Mae Hall, and Helen Howard
Frank is survived by his stepchildren whom he thought of as his children: Wayne and Nancy Baker of Greenville, Linda and Steve Nixon of Greenville, and Sherry and Mark Echeman of Greenville; his sister: Joann Sumler of Bethel, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday August 8, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Jim Meredith officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Jefferson, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 2:45 PM on Monday by the Gettysburg Masonic Lodge with the Scottish Rite Ring service following. Veterans graveside services will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association, the Cancer Association of Darke County or the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
