Garst Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Holiday Open House

The Holiday Open House is back at Garst Museum on Saturday, December 7. The Open House is the museum’s gift to the community and will be your opportunity to tour the museum at no cost during its regular hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  And, there’s more!

The Museum Store is offering discounts for everyone. Members and those just becoming members will get the established 10-percent member discount in the Museum Store plus the chance discount ranging from 5–30 percent from spinning the wheel of good fortune. Consider becoming a member that day, and you’ll be entered into a members-only drawing for gift cards.

Memberships to the museum make great gifts for you or someone else.  Members can return to the museum for free anytime during the year; you cannot see everything in one visit! Individual memberships are $30, and Family memberships are $50 (immediate family members). There are other levels as well. Those joining the museum that day, and existing members attending the open house, will all be entered into the drawing. Plus, there is a 50/50 raffle ($5 a ticket or 6/$25) that will perhaps put some extra holiday cash in your pocket! The winners in the membership drawing and 50/50 raffle will be selected at 4 p.m. at the close of the Holiday Open House. Winners need not be present.

Join in the merriment and tour the museum to see the many decorated Christmas trees.  These unique trees have been trimmed by the Annie Oakley Center Foundation, Butterflies Junior Garden Club, Ft. Greene Ville DAR, Garst board members, Ladybug Garden Club, VFW Auxiliary, and Wildflower Garden Club.

The mission of the Darke County Historical Society and Garst Museum is to preserve the history of Darke County and foster education on its relevance to the American experience. Donations are appreciated to support the efforts to collect, preserve, exhibit, study, and interpret materials relating to the history and culture of Darke County.
