Gaslighting is a term which came into being most recently around 1940, but is a psychological and political technique which has been in existence for decades, and even centuries, before that time.
It involves the manipulation of the thoughts of an individual, and more likely a group, in politics, to make them question their own reality, or their perception of it.
This is accomplished by the “gaslighter”, or perpetrator, in several ways, including confusing an issue with distractions, or talking around it, or simply ignoring it, while convincing the “victim” (the “gaslight-ed”) that their memory, or even their sanity, may not be quite what they thought, or remembered.
Everyone has heard of “The Big Lie” technique, used by Hitler in the 1930s, and Stalin during the same time period, as well as probably dozens of other dictators, rulers, and politicians, before then, and even since.
Telling the same “un-truth” over and over and over again, consistently, and no matter how wrong nor off point it may be, until the victim thinks it is actually the truth, simply by hearing the lie so often, even constantly, and never hearing the actual truth, even once, during the same time.
This goes along with the accompanying technique of “The Distraction”, which makes small and seemingly less important things become much larger and more significant than they actually are, by the misplaced emphasis from the gaslighter, while making the most egregious and crucial items and issues seem quite small, and even unimportant.
All by way of “distracting” the victim into thinking about and concentrating on something they have no need to, nor perhaps even shouldn’t be, while forgetting about or even ignoring the most problematic issues.
Until the victim doesn’t know what to believe anymore, and finally gives in to what they are hearing so prominently, from what they have come to believe is now their most reliable source.
Any of this sound familiar?? It certainly should.
While both American political parties are accused of using the “Gaslighting” method convincing folks to their side, only one of these two groups really understands it, and is willing to employ it, regardless of how fallacious, fabricated, wrong, and even deceitful it might be.
The Democrats, and the world Lefty Cabal behind them, by use of the Lefty media here, and in all parts of the world, have Gaslighted the American public, or attempted to, for year after year, election season after election season, and Dem Presidential administration after Dem Presidential administration, since FDR used it to perfection, and for his sole purpose, without even knowing its name.
While the Republicans, aptly named the “Stupid Party”, have not only been clueless as to how to use this technique effectively, even to a small and useful degree, but never see it coming from the Dems, even though it is the same process every time, over and over and over again.
The Dems even got very sophisticated, when confronted with the only real Republican adversary they’ve had to face in many years, that being of course: Donald J. Trump.
When they ingeniously used his calling of the liberal Mainstream Media the “Fake News”, and “Fakers” against him, by being incredulous that he would dare call such a respected institution of American journalists, by such a derogatory term.
Sounded good, but that one didn’t work for them. Because they were in fact, liars and fakers of everything about Trump.
But topics which DID work for the Dems, you will easily remember, included: the supposed Russian influence over Trump (when it was actually Hillary), the Ukrainian deal with Trump (when it was actually the Bidens), the “mostly peaceful” riots all over the country, in 2019, and the election abnormalities (read “fraud”) in 2020 in many states.
And so many more. “Dis”-information, and “Mis”-information, have become simply an everyday practice and M.O., for the Dems.
And the Gaslighting continues on, with the Banana Ice Cream Boy as President. Distraction following distraction, lie following lie, the changing of not only the facts which are completely apparent and known to everyone, but also changing of all the history they can, and encouraging all Americans to ignore most of it, purely because it doesn’t agree with their current agenda.
And when they can’t change the facts, nor the history they want to, or need to, they just make stuff up, no matter how bizarre, to suit whatever purpose they think makes them stronger, and more in control.
The Big Lie, and the total Distraction, all to the Nth degree.
Ya gotta admit, the Dems really ARE very good at all this.
And that’s why they have no problem going after elections the way they do, with very little fear of anything happening to expose them. The Media labels anyone who might question them as: “Deniers”. Over and over again.
Because they know the Republicans don’t know how to combat them, or that they simply won’t even call them out, muchless do anything about the devious techniques of the Dems and their Media.
We’ve all seen and heard what good politicians do, when asked a direct question by the Press, or during a debate with other candidates. They simply ignore the original question, while denying the reality which is all around them.
Then they answer the query in whatever way they want, whether their response is on point or not, as long as it avoids the issue supposedly in focus, which they don’t want addressed, while confusing the questioner as well as the audience and listeners, and giving only the information they want out there, in the way they choose.
When done by the right Politician, this can be a beautiful thing. It’s actually a verbal artform.
Unfortunately, it ain’t very kosher, nor right. And we have become so accustomed to hearing and seeing this happen, that it becomes a very sly form of Gaslighting, in itself.
The Dems know very well, how to use this insidious method of communication. And the G.O.P. does not. So we can expect there to be tons more of this terrible nonsense in the future.
As long as the majority of the Media stays in the hands of the Lefty Cabal, and far too many Americans believe whatever they are told, by this propaganda arm of the Dem party.
The Republicans have many more strong candidates than the Dems. But until the G.O.P. finds a way to convince the general public not to listen to the self-serving nonsense presented by the Dems, through their complicitly instructed Media, then their election fights, and their election nights, will always have Republicans starting from very far behind.
The Truth is the Truth, people, …and you know what it is.
Just don’t listen to anything else.
