SEPTEMBER 14, 1928 – SEPTEMBER 8, 2022
Gene Edward Schultz, 93 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday September 8, 2022 at 2:43 AM at Reid Health, Richmond, Indiana. Gene was born September 14, 1928, in Darke County, Ohio, the son of the late Marion J. and Cora S. (Johnson) Schultz.
Gene worked at Van Leer for 37 years retiring in 1986. He was a member of Stelvideo Christian Church where he served as a Deacon; Greenville Masonic Lodge # 143 for 70 years, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Antioch Shrine, Darke County Shrine Club, he served as the hospital and transportation coordinator for the Darke County Shrine Club.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 69 years Betty Lou (Olendorf) Schultz on October 19, 2020 whom he married June 2, 1951; and his sisters, Anita Kniesley and Dotty Gunckle.
Gene is survived by his children, Jeannie and Jim Anderson of Wayne Lakes, Vicki and Randy Carroll of London, Ohio, and Steve and Peggy Schultz of Greenville; 8 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Tuesday September 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Tracy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Stelvideo Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted by the Greenville Masonic Lodge at 11:00 AM on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital or Stelvideo Christian Church Building Fund.
