Geraldine “Geri” Hodge of Greenville, Ohio, age 72, quietly departed this life on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at the Village Green Health Campus in Greenville.
Geri was born on May 10, 1949, in Dayton Ohio. She was the foster child of the late Creele and Susie Sell of Bradford, Ohio.
In addition to her foster parents, Geri was preceded in death by her foster sisters, Ruby Wagner, Edith Howell and Martha Memrick; her foster brothers, Lester Sell, Lee Sell and Calvin Sell and a nephew Travis Matthew Hodge.
Geri attended Gettysburg Central School. Geri had a deep and abiding love for Jesus Christ. She attended Greenville Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member. She had a love of children and in previous years she helped with Sunday school.
Geri worked at McDonald’s for more than 30 years. She also worked at Rest Haven Nursing Home as an activities director for a time. Geri enjoyed going to fairs and was an avid collector of Gizmo’s.
She is survived by her brother, William “Ed” and Robin Hodge of Palatine Bridge, New York; her nephews, Justin and Beth Hodge of Canajoharie, New York, and Jordan and Zahra Hodge of Orlando, Florida; her niece, Bethany and Jason Walrath of Canajoharie, and a great niece, Lavy Elizabeth Hodge of Canajoharie; as well as her foster brothers Charles Sell of Greenville and Glenn Sell of Bradford, Ohio.
The family would like to thank Jeremy Pelegji for all he has done before and during Geri’s illness. Finally, she was a dear friend to many people in and around Greenville by whom she will always remembered and sorely missed. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, caregivers, and others for all their genuine kindness expressed to Geri. These acts of selfless thoughtfulness will never be forgotten.
A private burial will take place in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Geri’s church family has planned a celebration of her life for Sunday, March 27, 2022, at 5:00 PM at Greenville Baptist Church, 4689 Childrens Home Bradford Road, Greenville, Ohio. Refreshments and fellowship will follow.
