Ginger Christine Gilbert, 69 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday October 17, 2021 at 7:46 AM at Soin Medical Center, Beavercreek, Ohio. She was born August 9, 1952 in Dayton, Ohio the daughter of the late Chester and Violet (Calvert) Cochran.
Ginger was a 1970 graduate of Franklin Monroe and worked at Big N Department Store, Brooks Hallmark, and retired from Eikenberrys South. She enjoyed many lunches, shopping, movies, coffee talks with her many friends and was known for decorating for Christmas with a Christmas tree in every room; she especially loved baking cookies with her grandkids.
Ginger is preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life Ron Gilbert whom she was married to for 43 years; her mother in law and father in law: John and Glenna Gilbert; and her sisters: Michelle Netzley and Linda Mong.
Ginger is survived by her children: Chris Gilbert of Van Wert, Ohio, and Amber and David Swaney of Dayton, Ohio; her grandchildren who called her “Gran”: McKenna and Elizabeth Gilbert, and Evan Swaney; step granddaughter: Molly Hardin; her sister: Sharon Condy of Greenville; brother in law: Phil Mong; aunt and uncle: Donna and Bob Warner of Tipp City; her special friend: Ellen Swaney; and her loving dogs: Lily and Wicket.
A Celebration of Gingers Life will be held on Saturday November 6, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Lorraine Grote officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. At the request of Ginger no flowers or memorial gifts will be accepted instead she asked that memorial contributions be made to Roads to Recovery Autism Center in Fairborn, Ohio, the Darke County Sheriff’s Office Coats for Kids Program, or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
