Ginghamsburg Church (Tipp City, OH) has three campuses, one of which – the Fort McKinley Campus – is located on the corner of Siebenthaler and Salem in Dayton. Belle Haven Elementary is within two miles of Ginghamsburg’s Fort McKinley Campus. Over the years, the Ginghamsburg community has extended care and support to the children of Belle Haven Elementary, including on-site festivals, sports camps and tutoring.
With their moto to Love Jesus and Do Something About It, Ginghamsburg hosted a donation drive on August 7 to support Belle Haven Students as they start school this fall. An entire busload of school uniforms, personal care products and snacks were collected and $2,550 worth of scholarships for a boys 5k running program called Let Me Run.
“We asked Belle Haven administrators if there was something we could do that would make a really nice impact like pay some student fees, lunch fees or something altogether different. We simply wanted to love Belle Haven in a way that was actually helpful and not assume we had all the answers.” -Mike Fitzpatrick, Ginghamsburg Family Ministry Pastor
Let Me Run is similar to a program called “Girls on the Run”, which is a girls’ empowerment program that builds healthy living skills and connection through structured curriculum and running. Although Let Me Run works collaboratively with Girls On The Run, they haven’t been around long enough to establish a scholarship fund. The creation of this unique scholarship for boys will cover the $125 program fee and the cost of snacks.
The busload of donations and the $2,550 check will be dropped off at Belle Haven Elementary School (4401 Free Pike, Dayton) Monday, August 15 at 11am. Everyone is then invited to stay for a prayer walk.
“We’re going to pray for the students and staff of Belle Haven Elementary as they get ready to begin their school year! When we’re done, we will decorate their sidewalks with chalk art to start their school year with a smile.” – Mike Fitzpatrick, Ginghamsburg Family Ministry Pastor
