November election candidates speak

GREENVILLE ─ The Darke County Republican Party recently hosted its annual pig roast in the coliseum on the Darke County Fairgrounds. Candidates who will be appearing on the November 8 general election ballot were in attendance. GOP Chairman Katie DeLand chaired the event.
Candidate for U. S. Senate J. D. Vance led off the speakers, followed by U. S. Representative Warren Davidson. Vance is running for the seat from which Rob Portman retired. Davidson is running for re-election to Ohio’s 8th Congressional District.
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is running for re-election, as is Ohio Auditor of State, Keith Faber. Governor Mike DeWine is also running for re-election in November. All spoke about the importance of continuing conservative leadership in Ohio.
Justice Sharon Kennedy is currently serving on the Ohio Supreme Court, and will be on the ballot vying for Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court. Justice Pat DeWine is running for re-election to the Ohio Supreme Court.
Ohio Senate President Matt Huffman was present to speak in support of a ‘yes’ vote on both Ballot Issues 1 and 2. Ballot Issue 1 is to allow judges to consider public safety in setting bail. Ballot Issue 2 is to reserve participation in elections to only citizens of the United States.
Angie King is the Republican candidate for the newly re-districted Ohio House District 84, which serves roughly the northern half of Darke County. Mary Kate Huffman is running for an empty seat on the 2nd District Court of Appeals.
The meal featured sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, apple sauce and chips. The sausage was cooked on site.
