GOP Women to host Darke County Prosecuting Attorney

GOP Women to feature Jim Bennett

GREENVILLE, OHIO – The Darke County Republican Women’s Club (DCRWC) is hosting featured speaker Darke County Prosecuting Attorney Jim Bennett, at 6:30 p.m. on April 14 at the Double M Diner, 537 South Broadway Street – Suite #104 (enter from East 5th Street), Greenville.

“Jim will present information about his experiences since assuming office and his goals for the future of the prosecutor’s office. The citizens of Darke County are very fortunate to have a man of his caliber watching over our court system to see that justice is served. Our Club is extending an invitation to come hear what Prosecutor Bennett and his team is working toward to continue the success of the office and see that our community and county residents are well protected.” said Delores Ely, DCRWC President.

Jim assumed the office of Prosecuting Attorney for Darke County this year. Previously, Jim was assistant prosecuting attorney for Prosecuting Attorney R. Kelly Ormsby III since 2017. Prior to that, he was assistant prosecuting attorney and first assistant prosecuting attorney in Miami County for over 26 years. As a career prosecutor, he handled over 145 felony trials, with a wide range of offenses up to aggravated murder. In addition, he provided legal advice to all elected officials, townships, and other boards and agencies.

He was born and raised in Darke County and graduated from Versailles High School in 1975. Jim is a graduate of Wright State University and the University of Dayton School of Law. Shortly after graduation from law school in 1985, he became an assistant prosecuting attorney and started his career in public service. He currently resides in Versailles.

In addition to his career as a prosecutor, he has taught and trained police officers since 1990. Jim taught at area police academies and assisted in yearly training of local law enforcement. In 2014, he accepted a position from Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine as a law enforcement training officer at the state police academy in London, Ohio. He left there to accept a position as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Darke County.

The program is free and does not require reservations. Double M Diner will be offering full menu items for sale beginning at 6 p.m.

DCRWC is a local political group open to all Republicans. It was founded to provide political education and legislative information; provide a wider knowledge of the principles of the Republican Party; increase the number of registered Republicans; recruit, promote, and support qualified Republican women for political office; give exposure to and work actively for all Republican candidates; and lend support to the activities of other Republican organizations.
