On July 12th, 2024, Officers of the Greenville Police Department received multiple tips on the location of Jesse York, 28 of Greenville, who had an active warrant for his arrest through the Greenville Police Department for Domestic Violence. At approximately 11:46pm, Officers observed York through a window on the second floor of his residence, located at 205 Cypress Street. From one of the previous tip calls, Officers had been advised that York was stating he was going to shoot anyone outside.
Due to these threats, the Darke County Special Response Team (SRT) was requested to the location for assistance, residents in the area were made aware, and the street was blocked off. Multiple attempts were made to contact York through social media, as well as Officers announcing for York to come out through their patrol car intercom. A search warrant for the residence was obtained.
Officers continued attempting contact, with no response. After several hours, The SRT team deployed several rounds of gas into the residence. York could be seen moving inside and intercom commands to come out were made with no response. The SRT team made entry into the residence, locating York and taking him into custody at approximately 6:11am on July 13th, 2024.
York was transported to the Darke County Jail where he was incarcerated with no bond on his original charge of Domestic Violence. York will face additional charges of Inducing Panic and Obstructing Official Business.
