Greenville National Bank continues its support for Empowering programs

GREENVILLE – Lisa Martin, Marketing & Development Officer for Greenville National Bank, visited the Greenville Empowering After School Program with the bank’s annual gift: a check supporting Empowering’s efforts to help kids needing an extra academic boost. She presented the check to Jenette Stark, Program Coordinator for Greenville’s Empowering ASP.

“This is a great program,” she said. “We are proud to be able to help with some of the expenses.” Greenville National Bank is locally owned and operated, and an active force in the community, with 10 Darke County locations to serve its customers. GNB has supported Empowering programs since 2017.

Since its inception in 2016, and through a variety of programs, Empowering Darke County Youth has provided over 20,000 hours of academic support to more than 1,000 Darke County students from all seven local school districts. Despite schools closing in March, 2020, due to the pandemic, Empowering provided 1,621 hours of academic support to 199 students, with 465 of those hours being provided by Edison State and local high school volunteers.

The non-profit organization currently conducts After School Programs in Greenville, Ansonia and Arcanum-Butler School Districts, and a virtual program through Empowering Distance. Summer in-person tutoring will be offered if Covid restrictions allow it.

Empowering Darke County Youth is entirely supported by donations from local citizens, businesses and non-profit organizations. Anyone who would like to help can contact Empowering through its website, www.empowerdarkecounty.com, Facebook, empoweringyouth101@gmail.com, or P.O. Box 1113, Greenville, Ohio 45331.

The Empowering Mission: Empowering Darke County Youth is a United Way Partner Agency providing After School and Summer Tutoring programs to assist students in the areas of language arts and math with the goal of Strong Students for a Strong Community.
